Moscatel: “Caribes are not in panic”

The situation of Caribes de Anzoátegui has intensified, as a result of the problems with the pitching, which sent the eastern team to the basement of the standings with a balance of seven victories over 13 setbacks; however, its general manager, Samuel Moscatel, is confident that the boys will come out of this pothole.

‘La Tribu’ has not run with luck in the last 10 games it has played, presenting a negative balance of 2-8, including two consecutive defeats that place them at the bottom of the table and even raised false rumors about him dismissal of Mike Álvarez, team manager.

“The rumors about the dismissal of Mike Álvarez are completely false,” Samuel Moscatel said by telephone. “The Caribbean is not in panic, the alarms are only being raised, we trust one hundred percent that if there is someone who can solve this pitching crisis it is Mike,” added the executive.

And it is that the pitching of the Caribes has gone into a tailspin as this 2021-2022 season has elapsed, with an ERA of 6.23 – penultimate in the League -. His starters record a hefty ERA of 7.28, while the relief remains with a 5.52 ERA, the product of 62 earned runs in 101 innings pitched.

“We are 2.5 games from qualifying and we have not reached the middle of the season. I trust my guys like they always have. This team at any time engages. They always have us used to that ”, Moscatel said.
Little by little Caribes has been receiving pieces this season; many of them to help the offense; however, from now on, the pitching corps will receive its reinforcements.

Lester Oliveros, an experienced pitcher in the LVBP, will join this Thursday and will add his seniority to the eastern pitching staff. So much so that in the 2020-2021 season, Oliveros was one of the best relievers of the team with a 1.12 ERA in 17 appearances, in addition to harvesting 16 strikeouts in the same number of innings.

Also, another of the new pieces that Caribes de Anozoátegui will have at the end of this week will be the Dominican starter Rafael Pineda, who will replace the injured Greg Minier and will arrive at the end of this week.
