Moira Morillo inherited the love of Judo thanks to her parents

Moira Morillo is a Dominican judoka from Villa Francisca, who is currently representing her country at the Cali-Valle 2021 Junior Pan American Games.

Morillo was one of the standard bearers of the Quisqueyana delegation, designated by the Executive Committee of the Dominican Olympic Committee.

The judoka, who competes at more than 78 kilos, is ranked 20th in the junior category with 44 points and 68th in the majors, with 176 points.

Morillo’s most recent results include: Silver medal at the Malaga European Open, bronze at the Udine Youth European Cup and gold at the 2021 Punta Cana Pan American Open, among others.

At the Barranquilla 2018 Central American Games, Morillo obtained bronze medal in the +78 kg of Judo. What’s more has obtained medals in Canada, Mexico and Peru.

His parents are José Morillo and Marìa Polanco, the first is a judo coach, and the second was a judoka. “I like judo because I learned it from my parents. The hardest part was going into combat ”, expressed Moira Morillo

Moira is trained by her own father, who in turn gives training sessions at the Villa Francisca Club “From 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, he is my coach. He does not see that I am his daughter, he treats me the same as the others ”.

Regarding the Pan American games, the Dominican has won the Silver medal, after losing in the 78 kg against the Cuban Thalia Narino Castellano.
