Messi instead of Lewandowski: Real legend Casillas criticizes the award of the Ballon d’Or

Even the ex-Real goalkeeper Iker Casillas is not satisfied with the result at the Ballon d’Or. He ventures his anger on Twitter.

Iker Casillas has criticized the award of the Ballon d’Or. The former Real Madrid goalkeeper expressed doubts whether the performance of last year was actually decisive in awarding Lionel Messi.

“It’s getting harder and harder to believe in these honors in football,” wrote the 40-year-old on Twitter. Casillas indirectly criticized Messi’s seventh Ballon d’Or win, while Bayern star Robert Lewandowski ended up in second place.

Casillas: “Damn it, it’s not that difficult!”

“For me, Messi is one of the top five footballers of all time, but they have to start taking into account who is the best player in a given season,” added Casillas. “Damn it, that’s not that difficult! Others just make it difficult!”

Lewandowski broke Bayern legend Gerd Müller’s Bundesliga record with 41 goals last season.

The current PSG star Lionel Messi celebrated as the greatest triumph of winning the Copa America with Argentina this year.
