Madrid do not need to play well to win the Champions League

Real Madrid took a very important step forward to overcome the group stage of the Champions League after beating Shakhtar at the Bernabeu (2-1). It was not a brilliant match. Rather, the opposite, but it served for the whites to add the third victory and comfortably lead the classification of group D. In the other match, Inter stormed the field of the Sheriff (1-3) and climbed to in second place. While Madrid is not yet mathematically ranked, everything seems to indicate that it will end up being first and that Inter and Sheriff will play for second place.

At the Bernabeu, Madrid played half gas against a Shakhtar that faced. Nothing to do with the sleepy and subdued team of the previous day. The whites took the lead with an early goal from Benzema. Fernando tied before the break. And in the second half, again Benzema scored the winning goal. Although the French striker was the scorer, the praise was for Vinicius, the most active footballer in a Madrid who, without shining, always ends up doing the job.

It was a day of smiles and tears in the Spanish capital, as Atletico Madrid sank in Liverpool (2-0). A result that complicates, and much, the classification to those of Simenone, that happen to be momentarily third of group. The duel at Anfield was controversial, as Felipe saw the red in the first half. By then, however, the Reds were already winning 2-0 with goals from Jota and Mané. In the second half, the referee annulled a goal to Suárez for offside prior to the start of the play. Now the mattresses will be playing carobs in the last two games. The first against Milan and the last in Porto. Italians and Portuguese drew in this Wednesday’s duel (1-1).

On the other hand, Manchester City left the classification of group A, one of the most difficult of this Champions, on track. Pep Guaridola’s team, however, had to wait until the second half to be able to beat Bruges (1-4). Instead, Paris Saint-Germain stuck their fingers in the field of RB Leipzig, with a penalty whistled by the VAR in the 91st minute (2-2). In fact, Leipzig could have won if they had not missed another penalty in the first half. However, PSG’s classification is not in danger, and the first place of the group will be played on the next day at the City field.
