Lugo, the former discount area is a candidate to host the civic hall and gym

Un step on the road to urban regeneration. It is the intention with which the Municipality of Lugo completes a candidacy for the regional call for Urban Regeneration 2021 lo stable and the area of ​​via Macello Vecchio 34 with the purpose of turn it into a multipurpose civic hall and a large gymnasium for the disciplines of judo and boxing. The green light came in the last meeting of the council led by the mayor Davide Ranalli on the proposal of the councilor for public works Veronica Valmori.
The resolution also approved the technical and economic feasibility project for the redevelopment project worth approximately 1.2 million euros. It is a building of 812 square meters and a total area of ​​1,935 square meters which in the past was a food discount store with attached parking and has been in a state of neglect for some time. The municipal administration signed on November 22 the preliminary purchase agreement with the owners of the property who participated in the market survey wanted by the Municipality. The objective was, in fact, to acquire an asset to be used as a sports and recreational facility as resolved by the city council on 21 October last. In addition to the building, the external area will also be acquired to redevelop it, confirming its use as a public car park.
With this decision, the Municipality of Lugo continues in the direction indicated at the end of June, when the Guidelines for the implementation of the Urban Regeneration Masterplans were approved, which aims to recovering abandoned or underused areas and buildings, public and private, including green areas and parks in this strategy. A plan that has already seen the administration participate in the call for state urban regeneration (the outcome is not yet known) with the project for the construction of the new municipal auditorium in the former Enal building of Corso Garibaldi.
