Lot-et-Garonne is mobilizing for the Telethon this weekend

After a 2020 edition, very limited, because of the curfew, the Telethon returns, the weekend of 3-4 and 5 December.

It is with extreme health precaution, but an unwavering will that the Telethon intends to mobilize the Lot-et-Garonnais for this 2021 edition. As every year, the witness village of Roquefort will multiply the initiatives, in the presence of the sponsor of this edition, Jessy Jegerlehmer from SUA.

Jessy Jegerlehner will be the sponsor of the next Telethon in Lot-et-Garonne.

On the program, show meal on Friday evening, sports day on Saturday with table tennis and judo on Saturday. Coralie Jimenez, recently crowned European aerobics champion, will also be present at 8:30 p.m. The public can take part in the great march of smile and hope from 8:30 a.m. next day, place the lottery and the parade of quads, motocross and bikes (among others). A rich program, like revenge on the 2020 edition.

“There could not have been a gathering at all, just a tree plantation and a small market,” recalls Martine Carbonnelle, the departmental coordinator of the Telethon. The health constraints had, of course, penalized the AFM-Telethon association, but the volunteers remember an incredible generosity on the part of the Lot-et-Garonnais.

“The 47 is a department that has a lot of heart, people came in spite of everything and deposited donations in the ballot box. It was a great spontaneous impetus, it is heartwarming”, comments the latter.

This year, the desire to act is strong, but not in spite of good sanitary sense: “we are going to put things in place, even if it is not imposed on us”, advances Martine Carbonnelle. Thus, the sanitary pass will be required, as will hand washing and regular ventilation of confined spaces. “In addition to that, we have adapted the service, during the big meal, people will do the service to prevent the dishes from passing from hand to hand …”, develops the departmental coordinator. For her, it’s also a way to reassure people, not to discourage them from coming.

In Agen, Saturday 4 December

In Agen too, the Telethon will bring life to the city center, for the benefit of people with genetic diseases. As every year, the CCAS will offer a small event on Boulevard de la République, “I was even whispered that Mickey could be there …!”, Launches Martine Carbonnelle, already imagining the smile on her face children.

Because Teleton is that, it is above all a great celebration, and the opportunity to talk about the disease, with a smile, because there is a lot of hope … “Research has enabled great progress , and not only for patients with myopathies, it is much broader, some discoveries are used in the fight against blindness or cancer, “says the departmental manager. But, “the more one searches, the more one finds … to study”, in the words of the latter. It is therefore more urgent than ever to mobilize for the Telethon.
