Liepāja wins Tallinn’s Kalev and ends the LIBL series of failures

Riga / Tallinn, November 21, LETA. On Sunday, the Latvian basketball team “Liepāja” won the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League (LIBL), ending a series of six losses, but in another game, the University of Latvia suffered a fifth loss in a row.

“Liepāja” beat Tallinn’s “Kalev” with the result 97:74 (32:18, 20:16, 29:19, 16:21).

The most productive team in Liepāja was Kārlis Siliņš, who scored 21 points and won nine rebounds, Roberts Bērziņš added 17 points and four assists, but “double-double”, gaining 15 points and winning 11 rebounds, Zigmārs Raimo accumulated triple-double ”missed two assists.

Eriks Šmalcs stood out with 14 points in the home team. Latvian players Māris Ziediņš and Eduards Hāzners scored four and six points, respectively.

In another game “University of Latvia” with the result 57:67 (17: 7, 18:22, 9:18, 13:20) Hābnese’s “Viimsi” conceded.

Ričards Vitoļskis was the most productive in the ranks of students, gaining 12 points, but Valters Briedis accumulated 11 points.

In Hābneme’s team, Rains Veidemans scored 20 points, but Ronalds Zaķis stood out with 18 points, of which 16 were scored in the first half. The bunny also had six rebounds.

“Ventspils” is still in the leading position in the tournament table, having won seven games in seven matches. In second place is “VEF Rīga” with nine victories in ten games, but in third place is Tallinn’s “Kalev” / “Cramo”, which has won five games in six games. Hābnemes’ Viimsi is in fifth place with seven victories in nine games, the University of Latvia is in eighth place with three successes in eight games, and Tallinn’s Kalev is in three places with three wins in nine games. “Liepāja”, which has achieved two successes in eight matches, is in the 11th place, “Valmiera Glass” / “Vidzeme University College” is in the 13th place with one victory in eight games.
