Jurgen Klopp’s stance on treating Liverpool players in the Champions League

LIVERPOOL – Juergen Klopp had a different story when Liverpool won 2-0 over Porto in the 2021-2022 Champions League Group B elimination match at Anfield Stadium, Thursday (25/11/2021). This relates to the rotation of players by the bespectacled coach.

This scenario was carried out because Liverpool’s position in advancing to the knockout stage was safe. Therefore, Klopp is free to provide opportunities for several players.

Seen several players who rarely enter the core squad such as Neco Williams, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Tyler Morton, to Thiago Alcantara played from the start. Klopp also praised what his team had shown.

Even though he is considered impressed by playing as he is, Klopp insists that all the players he has chosen are the best and deserve to fill the squad. “That’s good, we can do better,” said Klopp.

“We could have been calmer in the first half especially, in scoring situations we were a bit busy, which is unusual when you put a team together that don’t play together all the time. But you can also see the desire from the players to win the game.”

Klopp believes some people might think Liverpool will play the game as it is, but the truth is they are not. He prefers to give the players the opportunity to experience the game in front of their own fans.

“Anfield sold out, we wanted to leave. We scored two incredible goals, especially Thiago – wow!” he continued.
