Junior Pan American Games 2021: El Salvador’s goals in Cali | sports

The swimmer Celina Márquez and the archer Paola Corado appear in the Salvadorans’ bets for medals in the Junior Pan American Games, which the Colombian city of Cali will host from November 25.

Celina Márquez, who trains in the United States, had an outstanding experience in the Tokyo Olympic Games, from which she said goodbye as the best Latin American in the qualifying rounds of the 200-meter backstroke event, with a time of 2 minutes, 14 seconds and 72 hundredths.

Paola Colorado, a compound bow specialist, has stood out in the last year in international events, with individual, mixed and team podiums.

But the success of the El Salvador delegation does not end there.

Uriel Canjura, a badminton player who plays for the Spanish Club Oviedo, wants to make use of his experience and confirm his evolution with the conquest of a medal.

El Salvador will be represented in the first edition of the Pan American Youth Games by a delegation of 67 athletes.

There are 42 women and 25 men who will compete in 20 of the 39 programming disciplines.

In addition to Marquez, Colorado and Canjura, medal options can also be held by athletics and fencing.

“We have expectations (of medals) in archery, badminton, sports shooting, swimming, athletics and fencing,” the head of the Salvadoran mission, Carlos Pereira, told EFE.

However, he avoided talking about a number of possible medals.

Paola Corado and Uriel Canjura will be the standard bearers for El Salvador in the Colombian contest that will run until December 5.
