JUDO: The African Championship at the end of May in Oran

The 43e edition of the African Judo Championship (men / women) will take place from May 26 to 29, 2022, at the Palais des Congrès of the Meridien hotel (Oran), agreed this Sunday, the organizers of this event during a meeting held in Oran.

This decision brought together representatives of the Algerian Judo Federation (FAJ), at their head its president, and members of the organizing committee of the Mediterranean Games (JM), scheduled in the same city next summer.

This Senior African Championship is a good preparation for the organizers before hosting the great Mediterranean sporting event.

The last African Judo Championship organized by Algeria dates back to 2000. It was the 22nd edition of this competition, hosted by the Harcha Hacène room (Algiers) between May 9 and 14, 2000. The official document attributing to Algeria the organization of these 43rd African “senior” judo championships in 2022, was signed by the former Secretary of State, in charge of elite sport, Salima Souakri, and the president of the African Union for the discipline, the Malagasy Randrianasoloniako-Niaiko Siteny.

The signing ceremony for this document took place last June on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the International Judo Federation (IFJ), held in Budapest (Hungary).
