Judo, Assunta Scutto the only blue in the race in Abu Dhabi in the last Grand Slam of 2021 – OA Sport

Last seasonal appointment of the 2021 World Tour of judo is almost upon us, with the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam scheduled from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 November which will close its doors on the major circuit for a couple of months, pending the start of official competitions in 2022 (Grand Slam Paris at the beginning of February).

On the tatami mats of the Grand Millennium Al Wahda no less than 225 athletes from 41 countries will compete with 1000 points in the world ranking up for grabs. Italy, after having missed the last Grand Slam in Baku, will be represented only by Assunta Scutto on the occasion of the UAE tournament.

We chose Abu Dhabi because it is the last appointment of the year and it fell better than Baku, which was too close. This Grand Slam, on the other hand, is perfect, because we had the right time to prepare it carefully. My goals always remain the same: have fun and give my best! I know this is the recipe for a great race!”, Scutto declares to the federal website.

Third career appearance in a Grand Slam for the nineteen-year-old Neapolitan, reigning world junior champion of 48 kg, who made her debut last February 18 in the major circuit in Tel Aviv and then collected a remarkable seventh place a few weeks ago in Paris.
