The U19 of Racing Genk has qualified for the play-offs of the Youth League at the expense of MTK from Hungary. In it, it encounters one of the teams from the CL track, which also includes Club Brugge.
Unlike Club Brugge, Racing Genk is in the Championship track of the Youth League. In the first round it settled with FC Cologne with great conviction.
In the second round, against MTK, it laid the foundation for the qualification in the first leg, by winning 1-2 in Hungary. Genk was also lord and master in the return match, but many opportunities were not forthcoming.
In the end it was Jay-Dee Geusens who secured the European winter for the Genk youth with a free kick. Luca Oyen could also have made it 2-0, but he missed.
In the play-offs, Genk will meet one of the teams that finished second in the CL group. They are composed exactly the same as the groups for the juniors, but with youth teams.
