Jamundí, sub-headquarters of the Games, received the relief of the Pan-American fire

The torch that was lit on November 17 at the Cristo Rey monument (Cali) continues with success and will not stop until it is located at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium on November 25, the date chosen for the opening ceremony. of the games.

On this occasion the turn of the relay was for the municipality of Jamundí, located south of the department of Valle del Cauca. As in the other cities where the competitions will be held, the objective is to show the most emblematic sites of the different sub-branches so that this tour is a socio-cultural event, where the torch is carried by relevant personalities in different areas such as culture , arts, entertainment, sports, science, social media and show business.

The tour took place between 9 and 10am this Saturday, starting from the Jamundí Bridge and ending at the Monument to the Cacique Xamundi. Those chosen to carry the Pan-American fire as it passed through this city of Valle del Cauca were:

– Juan Carlos Sierra Viera – Coordinator of the music school of the Jamundí house of culture. He was the creator of the emblematic band ‘Adelmo Rusca’ and is a musician from the Universidad del Valle.

– Ruperto Guauña Camayo – Judo coach in Jamundí since 1995. He has been in charge of training a considerable number of stars, among which we can mention Yuri Alvear and Luz Adiela Álvarez, as well as hundreds of judocas who have represented to the country in different sporting events.

– Captain Eduardo Sierra Salinas – Commander of the Meritorious Jamundí Fire Department. It is part of the operating entities of the National Risk Management System in Jamundí

– Ana Cecilia Maquilón Cabrera: She has obtained titles as a coach in departmental and national competitions in the athletics and para-athletics modality. He trained great figures such as Rosibel García and Juan Carlos Narváez.

– Luis Carlos Murillo Rivas – Represents the ‘choladeros’, people who are dedicated not only to the preparation and sale of cholado, but also to the preservation of this typical Jamundí fruit salad.

– Luz Adiela Álvarez Salazar – 24 years of sports career in the discipline of judo. He participated and represented our country in the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games in the 48 kg category. Pan American Champion on two occasions (youth and junior). Five times South American champion, six times Central American and Caribbean champion.

– Rosibel García Mina – 23 years of sports career in athletics, semi-distance modality 800 and 1,500 meters. It has the national mark in the 800 meters. Twice semi-finalist in the Olympic Games at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Four Pan American medals, two silver and two bronze. South American, Central American and Ibero-American Champion.

– Carlos Manuel Yagüe Gómez – Paralympic Athlete of the Powerlifting discipline. Para-Pan American champion, departmental champion in Vallecaucan competitions and in various Colombian sports competitions. He twice obtained a medal for excellence awarded by the Valle del Cauca league.

– Alfredo José Reyes – Yumbo and Jamundi Sub-Branch Coordinator at the Cali-Valle 2021 Pan American Games. Expert in

– Assertive communication, critical thinking, empathy and decision making, key aspects for the organization of large sporting events of all kinds.

– Yuri Alvear – 21 years of sports career in the discipline of judo. Olympic Diploma in Beijing 2008. She is the sixth Colombian athlete to have two Olympic medals. She was a bronze medal in London 2012, silver in Rio 2016 and an Olympic coach in Tokyo 2021. Pan-American medalist, South American medalist and three times world champion of judo in 2009,

2013 and 2014. He has participated in more than 6 world cups, obtaining gold and bronze medals.

Jamundeños came out to the passage of the torch to applaud and support the personalities who carried it as they passed through this Valle del Cauca municipality that will house the athletes who will compete in the disciplines of judo and karate. The Pan American fire tour will continue tomorrow, Sunday, November 21, in the municipalities of Calima El Darién and Yumbo.
