Instant match that Xavi can make or break in CL: “Just think about victory” | Champions League

Barcelona have managed to survive the group stage of the Champions League for 20 years in a row, but that could change this year. If Barca lose at home to Benfica tomorrow, they should do better than the Portuguese against Dinamo Kiev on the final day of play against Bayern. An almost impossible task.

The pressure is therefore on for Xavi, and that only in his second match as coach of Barcelona. “I only see one outcome for tomorrow and that is a victory for us. I am not prepared for anything else and so I don’t want to think about it.”

“On top of that, I would of course also like to see great play, although that will go hand in hand with the win. Not only the victory is important, but also the way in which it is done.”

In the first leg, Barcelona received a 3-0 blow from Jan Vertonghen’s Benfica. “It’s a great team, with very high level players. We know there will be times when they will hurt us. But we also have high level players.”

What will Xavi do if things go wrong? “I will only answer that if it actually happens. I don’t want to go along with those kinds of negative hypotheses. If we don’t win, we’ll talk again tomorrow.”
