In Amiens, Christmas boxes for the most disadvantaged

Ensuring a suitable Christmas for those who do not have the means to do so is the mission that the Sarb’Arc’Am association, an Amiens archery and blowgun club, has set for itself. This year, its members are therefore renewing an operation set up last year: Christmas boxes.

Five essential ingredients

The principle is simple: fill a shoebox of a set of small items. The rule is: a hot accessory, a candy, a hygiene or beauty product, a game or book, and a little note on a card.

To participate, several methods: “People can compose a Christmas box themselves and bring it to us, for example at the shopping promenade social club in Amiens Nord, explains Isabelle. They can also simply _bring us objects that will be used to compose boxes_. A packet of chocolates, old gloves or hats, … this time if at the association’s headquarters, in Amiens Sud.

A lack of male products

The volunteers also note that it is easier to make boxes for women than for men. “Above all, there is a lack of hygiene product. We therefore seek as much as possible _male or mixed products_, for adults and children alike“, explains Sébastien, co-president of the association.

Last year, the association was able to compose some 150 boxes, and around thirty additional gifts. This year, the fundraising operation is planned until December 15.
