Herbert Aceituno wins silver in parapowerlifting World Championship

The Salvadorian Herbert Aceituno won the silver medal in the category of up to 59 kilograms of the World Parapowerlifting Championships in the city of Tbilisi, Georgia.

Aceituno managed to lift 183 kilograms and secured a place on the podium. The gold medal went to the Egyptian Osman Sherif, who lifted 195 kilograms and the bronze went to the Chilean Juan Carlos Garrido, with 182 kg.

The Salvadoran added another high-karat medal just three months after winning the historic bronze at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

“Thank you very much @ybukele for the support and that of all Salvadorans but mainly it is from God, it is the one who gives us the strength to move forward. God bless you,” Aceituno commented on his Twitter account.

With the participation in the Tbilisi World Championships, Herbert Aceituno began his route to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

More than 20 participants from 19 countries such as Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, China, Nigeria, Iran, Thailand and Russia competed in the Salvadoran parathlete category, among others.
