About some months ago Dalma and Giannina Maradona have been expressing their outrage on social networks against Stegano Ceci, a former friend and partner of her father. The sisters branded the Italian man a “swindler” and they reproach him for continuing to make use of the image of Diego Maradona thanks to a contract that the soccer star signed a few months before his death. This time the five sons of the former footballer joined and replicated the same statement through their social networks to make clear their position as a united front.
Jana, Diego Junior and Dieguito Fernando -with the approval of their mother, Verónica Ojeda- they joined the request of Claudia Villafañe’s daughters and assured that the businessman “defrauds third parties and Diego’s image.” They all published the image of the writing on their respective Instagram accounts, and there they warned: “As legitimate heirs of Diego Armando Maradona we are forced to address all the fans around the world of our father, as well as companies and third parties in general due to the illegitimate use that Mr. Stefano Ceci is making of the image and name of our father ”.
As many have heard, Mr. Ceci says he has a contract that enables him to do practically what he wants with the image and name of our father and based on this there is a raid of signing contracts with third parties, unscrupulous, given that it is clear that Mr. Ceci does not have the rights, in order to desperately obtain funds ”, they continue. In this sense, they clarify that the agreement signed between Maradona and Ceci for the rights of image was signed in August 2020, two months before the death of the Ten and they remarked: “Clearly our father was not in a position to decide such a transcendent economic fact”.

They also emphasize that said document was rescinded, and claim that it cease to make economic use: “The contract itself is subject to Argentine law and jurisdiction and Argentine law establishes (…) that the person who had assigned his image rights may revoke them at any time and freely; Although our father passed away, the holders of said image rights, name and pseudonyms legally belong to his children”. In the last paragraphs they make their wish clear: “And it is our will, which we communicate and by this act we ratify is to definitively and totally rescind said contract”.
Finally, they assure that Ceci incurs a crime that foresees up to six years in prison: “Hiring Mr. Ceci (…) would be a mockery of our father’s image and a fraud”. The five signed the statement and posted Maradona’s official Instagram account, currently managed by a communication agency, and therefore it was later replicated in the profile that honors the sports star.

It should be remembered that at the end of October Dalma exploded on Instagram and expressed her outrage at seeing that Ceci was selling her father’s official merchandise. “This is the guy who approached my dad as a fan and now claims to own my dad’s image, voice, and name, claiming that’s not his kids”, He assured in the social network. And he added: “It just appeared to me that you blocked me you shitty shit @ stefanoceci10”, along with a capture where it showed that he could not see the profile of the Italian businessman.
