Guardiola: “De Bruyne tested negative, but has not trained yet” | Premier League

Kevin De Bruyne recently tested positive after the international break. The midfielder therefore missed the Premier League matches with Everton and West Ham and also had to pass for the Champions League match against PSG.

In the meantime, the Red Devil has tested negative at his last check, but Wednesday’s game against Aston Villa comes too early. “He has indeed tested negative, but he was not able to train yet,” said Pep Guardiola.

“Kevin will come back. He needs some time to get back to his old self. All players affected by corona complain of fatigue and need time. Kevin must be top fit to show his qualities.”

Guardiola also briefly discussed his former pupil Lionel Messi, who won the Golden Ball for the 7th time yesterday. Not everyone agreed, but Guardiola – unsurprisingly – did stand up for the Argentinian.

“You don’t have to ask me about that. It is what it is. You can never say it’s unfair when Lionel Messi wins the Golden Ball. He’s too good. But the Golden Ball is a show. It’s a fun one side effect to make football more attractive,” said Guardiola.
