Fun, sport and enthusiasm in “Mi primer Cross” in Avilés

The 60th edition of “Mi primer cross” was a great success, in the words of the organization. The test was solved yesterday morning, Saturday, on the Avilés estuary promenade, in the park of the old Ensidesa apprenticeship school, with a sunny and appetizing day for a first contact with athletics.

Hundreds of young people between eight and sixteen years old gathered on a one-kilometer route designed by the technical manager of Athletics at Bikila Atlética Avilesina. Except for two specific gravel points, the rest of the circuit ran on the green, under the gaze of countless companions proud of their little ones. “A great event for many children to have the first contact with athletics after the stoppage due to the pandemic,” they celebrated from the organization.

By categories and age order, in the women’s section, Angela Mariscal won the U-16, ahead of Lucía Monteserín and Aitana Sánchez. In the sub-14 the winner was Zoe González, completing the podium Martina Gavilán and Noa Gracia. In the sub-12 category, the victory went to Noa Prieto, ahead of Mónica Alonso and Candela Menéndez. Already in the sub-10, the victory traveled to the side of Marta Ceñal, who surpassed Paola Sánchez and Alba Martínez. Finally, in the sub-8 the victory went to Deva Cernuda, completing the podium of the category Noa Pereiras and Michelle Willems. The organization calculated the participation of 121 girls among all categories.

In the men’s section, in descending order of ages, the victory in the sub-16 category was for Abel Rodríguez, followed by Pelayo Álvarez and Joel Farias. In the sub-14 the victory was at the hands of Asur Álvarez, completing the podium Juan José Prada and Mael Fernández, second and third respectively. In the sub-12 category, Diego Álvarez was the winner, accompanied on the podium by Guillermo Martínez and Mateo Huerta. Already in the sub-10, Jesús García took first place, followed by Pablo González and Erik Willems. Finally, in the sub-8 the little Sergio Martínez won and Leo Fontanillas and Óscar Menéndez completed the medals.

With the 239 boys calculated by the organization among all the categories, the total participation of “My first cross” was 360 little ones.
