“From the trip to the hall”

For Alba Berlin, the 92-72 home win against Central German BC was really valuable. Because only 42 hours earlier, the team was still active in the Euroleague in Lithuania. “You noticed that and it was a committed performance. Especially because we didn’t stop. That has to be the mentality, especially when you feel that your legs are not there,” said manager Marco Baldi.

The team only returned to Berlin on Saturday evening, preparation was hardly possible. “We sat on the plane all day and didn’t eat anything right that day,” reported Forward Oscar da Silva. And yet Alba has to learn to deal with these circumstances. “We will continue to have many such games in the future that we practically have to go straight from the trip into the hall and then play against a well-rested opponent who has a whole week to think about how he can make life difficult for us.” said Baldi.

It helps a lot that all players are available again. Especially the return of Marcus Eriksson – the best thrower with 19 points – helps. You can hardly tell that he has been injured for weeks. “Of course it helps that I already know the system. And I did everything in rehab to be able to play again as quickly as possible,” said the Swede.

With him, Alba’s offensive is harder to predict again. “It opens up the field for the others. And in a way it is a throwing machine. Also in its attitude and intensity. It is subject to very little fluctuations”, praised Baldi.

In the basketball Bundesliga, Alba can look up again after her fourth win. “If you are honest, these are all mandatory victories. It was therefore important not to have given away another game,” said da Silva. On Thursday the Euroleague will continue against defending champion Efes Pilsen Istanbul (8 p.m. / Magentasport).
