FC Bayern: Loophole in Corona rules – can Kimmich go to the hotel despite 2G?

As “Sport1” reports, the unvaccinated players in Bayern’s squad around Joshua Kimmich are supposedly allowed to go to the 5-star team hotel “Maximilian’s” before the Bundesliga game against FC Augsburg – at least in theory.

At first it was said that Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Kimmich are not allowed into my hotel due to the corona rules in the Free State of Bavaria.

“The current legal regulations will apply to every guest. There are no exceptions. As of now, 2G still applies to us,” explained hotel manager Michael Artner to “Sport1”.

New clauses allow unvaccinated players to stay in hotels

But the law reveals a loophole. For restaurants and hotels, the Ministry of Health introduced some clauses on Wednesday (November 17, 2021) that could benefit Kimmich, Gnabry, Musiala and Choupo-Moting.

This was announced by the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA Bayern), as reported by “Sport1”. Accordingly, the 2G rule does not apply to “mandatory and non-postponable non-tourist accommodation stays”. The 3G plus rule would therefore apply to Kimmich, Gnabry, Musiala and Choupo-Moting – provided that their stay in the hotel is considered “absolutely necessary”.

Stanisic and two Bayern employees isolated from the team

“Sport1” had previously reported positive test results from Stanisics. The Croatian has just returned from the national team, he is double vaccinated and symptom-free.

Bavaria’s new Corona trio with Stanisic and the two other Bayern employees was isolated accordingly. According to “Bild”, there should be no quarantine obligation for the rest of the team because there was no contact.

The day before, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala left their corona quarantine. In the previous week, Kimmich, Gnabry and Musiala had to leave the German national team as contact persons for Niklas Süle, who was infected with corona. On the seventh day of isolation, they were free to test themselves with negative PCR results.

At least Kimmich has not yet been vaccinated. Nothing was officially known about the vaccination status of Gnabry and Musiala.

Musiala and Gnabry took part in Bayern training for the first time on Tuesday. Kimmich joins on Wednesday because he was absent on Tuesday due to a private appointment. Choupo-Moting is currently still on the road with the Cameroon national team.

Süle has to stay at home after the infection

Süle recently showed slight symptoms and will be absent from the Augsburg game. The center-back needs to stay home and recover.

Accordingly, the situation is comparable to that of Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann, who contracted Corona weeks ago despite vaccination and also complained of symptoms.

Süle’s positive test came from November 8th; The quarantine would be over after 14 days if the test result is negative and there are no more symptoms.

Three new corona cases at FC Bayern. Josip Stanisic, team manager Bastian Wernscheid and an unnamed supervisor member are said to have been infected with the virus. In addition, Joshua Kimmich might be able to go to the team hotel after all.

“That was really regrettable”, find FOCUS-Online columnist Mike Kleiss and football expert Thomas Wagner when they are upset in the podcast “Eggs, we need eggs” about a scene from the DFB game against Liechtenstein. The duo doesn’t mean coach Hansi Flick’s team.
