Elche rules out the signing of Machín and studies alternatives

Machín, former coach of Girona | E.NARANJO / EL PERIÓDICO

Pablo Machín will not coach Elche. And that the agreement was total and that the Soria coach had it all in place to be already in Illicit lands today and start directing training. Yesterday morning, however, Machín called the owner of Elche, the Argentine Christian Bagarnik and asked him for more time to decide. The former Girona coach had a match yesterday with his current club, Al Rahed of Saudi Arabia, with whom he has a pact to be free if he receives an offer from a Spanish League team. Bagarnik saw it as a flight forward and decided to break the operation.

With Machín ruled out, Elche are now reopening other avenues to find the new conductor of the orchestra. In this sense, some of the names with which the club works are those of Jorge Almirón, who was already its coach last season, and Albert Celades. In the event that the chosen one was the former Andorran midfielder, the current second coach of the Costa Brava, Òscar Álvarez, would accompany him. Former Girona coach Francisco Rodríguez is also on the list, although he seems to have lost strength because he could be waiting for a proposal from Granada. The option of Javi Gracia, who is negotiating with Al Saad, who has been left without Xavi Hernández, has also been cooled. Barcelona’s Sergio González is another option.
