Eagles arms silenced the Magellan

With a tremendous display of dominance, the Aguilas del Zulia pitchers completely silenced the powerful sluggers of the Navegantes del Magallanes and allowed the winged ones to prevail this Saturday 6-2.

The electricians woke up starter José Moreno early and made two lines in the first inning with a double by Nellie Rodríguez and a fly by Leonardo Reginatto.

But manager Marcos Davalillo turned to the bullpen before that first inning ended, and from there, he perfectly matched his pitchers to tie up the Turks. Such was the dominance of the relay that Magallanes could barely tie four hits in the rest of the engagement.

Águilas discounted with a hairline in the second inning pushed by José Briceño and equalized the score two innings later with a homerun by Andrés Chaparro.

The game was defined in the fifth inning with a three-run homer by Briceño, who was clearly seen to the electric pitchers and pushed one more for the rapacious account in the eighth inning.

In total, the receiver, who finished 5-3, drove in five of the six Zulia runs.

Arik Sikula (2-1) took the victory after a near perfect one-two-thirds inning relief, and Alvin Herrera charged with the backhand.

For Águilas it is the 11th victory of the season. And while it doesn’t get them out of the basement, it allows them to stay close to their rivals, just two and a half games out of fifth place.

For his part, Magallanes remains the leader with a 19-9 record, but falls for the second consecutive night after adding 11 wins in a row.
