Disagreeing on his role, John Wall stays away from the Rockets | NBA

Yesterday, we learned that John Wall wanted to return to the Rockets’ rotation. Discarded before the start of the season, pending a transfer that does not happen, the 31-year-old leader wants to play again.

Today, ESPN and The Athletic announce that he has therefore discussed with GM Rafael Stone and coach Stephen Silas to find out under what conditions he could return to the field.

Except that as announced yesterday, the problem will be to find a compromise. John Wall indeed wants to come back and be the holder, or be able to fight to be in the five major, while the club’s objective is clearly to use him as a replacement, to relay a Kevin Porter Jr. who will have the biggest game time in the lead.

For now, the two camps are not in agreement and the former All-Star of the Wizards remains therefore out of the group.

But will the NBA now accept this situation? The league did not have much to say when the club and the player agreed on the sidelining of the player, but if the latter wants to replay, the governing bodies could intervene to force the Rockets to reinstate John Wall.

This is what they did with the Pelicans, in 2019, after Anthony Davis’ transfer request. At the time, New Orleans planned not to play “Unibrow” at the end of the season, but the NBA had intervened in favor of its “anti-tanking” rule, which prevents the sidelining of. non-injured players.
