Davis Cup with plans to move to Abu Dhabi

There is news about this traditional by teams in the world of tennis. Davis Cup would have an agreement to move to Abu Dhabi, for at least five years.

Once again, the tournament has given something to talk about in terms of extra-court issues and it is that, on this occasion, according to what was reported by the British newspaper The Telegraph, the company Cosmos, which is president Gerard Piqué, would have reached this agreement with the capital of the United Arab Emirates, andn which the Cup finals would take to this city for at least five years.

It was in 2019 when, under the command of Piqué, the Davis Cup changed its format, with the final in a single venue, in this case Madrid. Since then, various actors in the world of tennis have criticized the management of the FC Barcelona footballer.

Three locations today

For this year, the tournament modified a bit and added two more venues, still leaving the Spanish capital as the main venue. Turin (Italy) e Innsbruck (Austria) were the other cities selected to host the Davis Cup atmosphere.

On the other hand, after this information about the possible move of the Davis Cup to the United Arab Emirates was released, the International Tennis Federation responded to the rumors. “Speculation about a venue for the Davis Cup finals in the Middle East is nothing new. The ITF Council is reviewing the venues for 2022 together with Kosmos and they hope to make a decision by the end of the Finals ” They explained about the Davis Cup and an upcoming venue move to Abu Dhabi.
