Darmstadt 98 and the summit storm to the top of the table

Fto-heart what more do you want? At the Böllenfalltor one can sing out loud “Nobody beats us” – and it’s not folklore, but the truth. You can marvel at a team that impresses the second division with enthusiastic football. After the final whistle, a coach can be asked in front of the fan curve, who is then sung a personal serenade there. Not for a birthday, but just like that, out of gratitude and joy.

Torsten Lieberknecht not only gathered the Darmstadt team behind him in no time after his arrival, but was also extremely well received by the audience. With almost every sentence, the Palatinate speaks from the South Hessian people’s soul. And so Darmstadt, which had to endure some difficult phases in the past second division years, is currently the Garden of Eden in German professional football in terms of sport and atmosphere.

The soaring of this real on the pitch team, whose player names are still largely unknown nationwide, simply does not want to end. The top of the table have already been climbed by the “lilies” with their 4-0 home win against previous ranger FC St. Pauli – it was already 4-0 after the formidable first half on Saturday. From the last six games they got 16 out of 18 possible points. The now five home wins in a row were shot out with 20: 1 goals.

The no-name storm duo Luca Pfeiffer / Philip Tietz has become the league’s power of attack. Never since the introduction of the single-track second division have two players from a club hit double digits after 14 matchdays. These unpredictable Darmstadters present every opponent with insoluble problems, also and above all the supposed top addresses and aspirants for promotion. FC St. Pauli, Schalke 04 (4: 2), 1. FC Nürnberg (2: 0), Werder Bremen (3: 0) and Hannover 96 (4: 0) have already lost to the “Lilien” picked up.
