Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková won the Champions Tournament

Krejčíková and Siniaková followed the Masters doubles title on Andrea Sestina Hlaváčková, Hana Mandlíková, Helena Suková and Jana Novotná, who always had a partner from abroad. Navrátilová has a record thirteen trophies, but she has always won as an American.
Siniaková and Krejčíková ended their life season in Mexico on Thursday. Before the Champions Tournament, Roland Garros won the Grand Slams this year, became Olympic winners in Tokyo and added two more titles on the WTA circuit – dominating the Gippsland Trophy and Madrid. Even before the finals, they were the best pair of the season.

The opening set of the finals was in the spirit of the excellent Krejčíková, on the network of the emphatic Siniaková, who added great returns. Krejčíková served three times in the first set and lost only one fiftyn, due to a double fault. The Czechs took Mertens’ hand at 4: 2, then Siniaková lost her hand, but immediately after Krejčíková’s volley, Sie Shu-wej. Krejčíková served the set.

The Mertens decided the second set to be 2: 0 and were solid at the time of their serve. The opponents turned their first sword ball with luck at Mertens’ service. Krejčíková finished the match. At 30:40, the Czechs turned away the breakball and turned the second matchword and was a demonstration of their strength – Krejčíková gave a good service and Siniaková was right on the net.
At the ceremony, Martina Navrátilová took over the trophy from the hands of the world tennis legend, who cheered on the Czech pair in the galleries and tried to advise the players.

One million dollars from the tournament’s five-million subsidy was distributed among the debtors. As undefeated champions, Siniaková and Krejčíková will halve 360 thousand dollars, almost eight million crowns.
Siniak will replace Sie Shu-wei at the top of the doubles standings and will finish the year as the world’s first debutist for the second time in her career. In 2018, they were the first together with their partner Krejčíková.
