For the first quarter-final of the 2021 Davis Cup, Croatia beat Italy (2-1) in Turin. Borna Gojo (276th worldwide) won the first point for the Croats, in singles, (7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-2) against Lorenzo Sonego (27th), before Jannik Sinner (10th) equalizes following his success (3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3) over Marin Cilic (30th). The pair composed of Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic finally snatched the last point of the qualification by disposing of their rival formed by Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).
