Croatia are the first team to qualify for the Davis Cup semi-finals

For the first quarter-final of the 2021 Davis Cup, Croatia beat Italy (2-1) in Turin. Borna Gojo (276th worldwide) won the first point for the Croats, in singles, (7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-2) against Lorenzo Sonego (27th), before Jannik Sinner (10th) equalizes following his success (3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3) over Marin Cilic (30th). The pair composed of Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic finally snatched the last point of the qualification by disposing of their rival formed by Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).

The Croats will face, in the semi-final, the winner of the duel between Serbia by Novak Djokovic and Kazakhstan led by Alexander Bublik (36th), played this Wednesday at the Madrid Arena, in Spain. By then, Germany and Great Britain will have separated on Tuesday at the Olympiahalle in Innsbruck, while Russia and Sweden will meet, also in Madrid, on Thursday.
