Costa Rica will debut this Friday at the Junior Pan American Games in Colombia

Costa Rica will debut this Friday at the first Junior Pan American Games, in Cali, Colombia, with representatives from nine competing disciplines.

Before the debut, the opening of the games will be held this Thursday at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium at 6 pm. Neshy Lindo and Julio Pérez Alemañy are the Costa Rican flag bearers.

The first discipline that will see action is judo. Melanie Esquivel will face Kiara Arango from Peru. In the 48 kilogram category, Amaya Pérez will face the Mexican Kassandra Espinoza.

Swimming, gymnastics, men’s and women’s badminton, judo, BMX, triathlon, archery and weightlifting or weightlifting will be the other sports in which Ticos will see action this Friday.

In the national delegation, of 66 athletes, there are some athletes who competed in Tokyo 2020, such as Noelia Vargas, Neshy Lindo, Beatriz Padrón and others recognized as Juan Diego Castro, who studies and competes in the university circuit of the United States.

The Games are held from November 25 to December 5 and will bring together more than 3,800 athletes from 41 countries throughout the continent and will compete in 39 sports disciplines, of which Costa Rica will compete in 21.

All gold medalists will obtain a direct ticket to the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023, so they are competitions that are important for the Olympic cycle towards the games in Paris 2024.
