Colombian badminton left two representatives in the round of 16 of the Pan American Games

The national athletes, Yamid Gironza and María Yulieth Pérez, began their participation in badminton at the Cali-Valle 2021 Junior Pan American Games with victory, and are already installed in the round of 16 of the tournament.

In the first place, Pérez advanced to the round after defeating the Ecuadorian, Natalia Román, by 2 sets to 0. Now, the young Colombian will have to face Jaqueline Lopes, from Brazil, in the framework of the round of 16, a match that It will take place on Saturday, November 27.

Gironza, for his part, did the same by defeating Argentine Nicolás Oliva with a score of 1-2. The national athlete qualified for the round of 16 players, where he will have to beat Don Averia, from the United States, to get into the fight for the event’s medals.

Juan Felipe Noguera and Juliana Giraldo lost, in the round of 32, to Diego Mini, from Peru, and Angelina Gualdi, from Argentina, respectively. In this way, both ended their participation in the individual badminton of the Junior Pan American Games.

It is important to highlight that the Colombian team will also compete in the mixed doubles modality of the discipline.
