Club Judo Mytos shines in the Spanish Cup

This weekend the Almeria club Judo Mytos has had a splendid participation in the X edition of the Spanish Cup Villa de Avilés, categories sub 18 and sub 15, in the Asturian town of Avilés. The meeting that took place at the El Quirinal Sports Center had the participation of clubs from all the Spanish communities, in addition to the neighboring country Portugal.

The great performance of the judokas from Almeria is evidenced after the results obtained. Of the twelve athletes, five climbed to the podium: In the cadet category (under 18), Jairo Gimenez won gold at -73 kg in a hotly contested final with his teammate Kiko Herguido (silver, -73 kg); Alejandra B.

Marín reached gold at +70 kg and Darío Torres, silver at -50 kg. The rest of the cadet competitors (Rafael Rubio, Juan Reche, Sara Carrión and Marcos Gallardo) carried out an extraordinary competition reaching positions very close to the podium.

In the infant category (under 15), Álvaro Reche won the bronze medal. His classmates Denis Stefan and José María Ruiz did not make it easy for their rivals as they demonstrated on the tatami.

The Judo Mytos club has its next important appointment on November 20, at which time the Andalusian Championship will take place, a qualifying tournament for the Spanish Championship to be held on December 5 and 6.
