CB Joventut Castelldefels: more teams, sponsorships and digitization after being reborn

CB Joventut Castelldefels grows without abandoning its philosophy. The Joventut Castelldefels basketball club has more than one hundred chips in its base, six teams and the projection of creating a seventh soon. The basketball entity, one of the Spanish sports with the most federated and registered players at the base, also has more than forty players in its senior categories.

The basketball club of the Catalan town, a few kilometers from Barcelona, ​​lived a historic summer after making changes to its structure. The Joventut Castelldefels, with fifteen years of history, last summer renewed its board of directors to grow and prevent its disappearance. The new leadership is made up of parents of boys and girls who are active in the ranks of the entity that supported a new project to keep the club alive.

The new directive has only three months to live, but the period has given much of itself. Joventut Castelldefels has consolidated its teams, increased its players by 15%, incorporated a new sports director and added new communication channels to explain the day-to-day life of the club in a more visual way.

The club’s structure is divided into its board of directors, field delegates and a person in charge of managing new technologies and social networks. The club has also incorporated a person in the position of sports director, Jordi Oliver, as manager of coordinate and supervise the entire work plan. Rodríguez highlights that “choosing the staff was very difficult but we stayed with Jordi, he is a physical education teacher, he has worked in the sports area of ​​great teams such as Joventut de Badalona or FC Barcelona and pursues the same objectives as us” .

“We teach children to win, but also to make an effort, to learn and to respect,” says Jesús Rodríguez, new president of the entity, on the values ​​of the base. In addition, he assures that “the future of the club is very promising, the number of participants has increased since summer and we want to continue adding players ”.

The club was founded in 2006 with a group of players from Castelldefels who had no equipment or facilities to play with. The Town Hall of the town gave them a track and thus began their growth. “The young people wanted to play and they were always forming teams with the philosophy of not discriminating against anyone and evolving”Remembers Rodríguez.

The new board, with Jesús Rodríguez at the helm, has the objective of maintain and evolve the club’s philosophy based on personal and human training through basketball.O. The club, which defines itself as “more social than sporty”, seeks to differentiate itself with personalized treatment for each of its players.

“Many clubs focus on numerical results but we have a different model, We want to create a club that does not seek sports results but rather another philosophy aimed at commitment and work discipline”, Assures Jesús Rodríguez. “We see professionalization with enough optimism thanks to our philosophy,” he adds.

For the current season, the entity proposes that all coaches be consolidated within the club, with objectives in line with its philosophy, “we are providing new tools to improve and we want to end the season by projecting an expansion of teams and all the people who work with us ”, explains Rodríguez.

In addition, the club is committed to creating new communication channels with its followers to increase its audience. At the moment, they are aiming to expand to broadcast the matches on streaming, “We have registered a high number of visits in a very short time and we still do not broadcast games through social networks but we want to do so”, highlights the president.

The club’s objective regarding digitization also includes the future creation of an application and the president highlights it “so that families can easily access information and a good website as their own channel of communication.”

The estimated budget of the club for the current season 2021-2022 is around 40,000 euros, “It is spent because it is intended for own funds but we do not foresee losses,” says the president.

The club has increased its budget for this season due to improvements in materials and trainers, however, last season it had a very similar budget despite being slightly lower than the current one. “We do not present losses, in fact there is a surplus from the previous year despite the pandemic”, Highlights the president who ensures that the club does not have debts and that its accounts are healthy.

The club has a recent agreement with the main sponsor accounting for 20% of revenue, also adds partners logistics that involve the contribution of material, logistics and equipment. The Castelldefels City Council also has an important role according to institutional sponsorship and that provides the entity with quality tracks at zero costs, “without the help of the City Council it is unsustainable for the club to continue,” explains the president.

Despite not having been eligible for grants this year for the formation of the new board in summer, the president assures that “we are working to incorporate new sponsors, we believe that we can apply for them, we are a club with a very great and well-defined potential”.

Sponsorship with Koetix

In accordance with its intentions, the club has signed an agreement with Koetix, which will be the club’s main sponsor and official provider of digitization and communication services for the first time in its history during the current 2021-2022 season.

In the agreement with this sponsorship within the communication sector, the link to the official communication channels of the club stands out, as well as the brand image in the official facilities of the club and will allow Koetix to jointly develop, activate and coordinate innovative, digital actions and face-to-face, aimed at members and fans of the entity.
