Carlos Alcaraz positive for coronavirus and package for Davis Cup

It’s a big blow for Spain. Carlos Alcaraz, 18, has tested positive for the coronavirus. The 32nd player in the world must therefore withdraw from the Davis Cup. The Spaniards, who must already do without Roberto Bautista Agut, affected in the abdominals, start the event this Friday with a meeting against Ecuador.

“I tested positive for Covid-19 today (Thursday), which will prevent me from playing the Davis Cup which made me dream so much”, regrets Alcaraz, selected for the first time in the national team, explaining to feel at this stage of “Very mild symptoms”.

In a separate press release, the Spanish Federation reported a positive case, and therefore placed in isolation, among its selection, without specifying its identity, and added that “The rest of the team were subjected to a new PCR test this afternoon”, without indicating when the results are expected.
