Frankfurt succeeds in breaking free in the table cellar! Also because a Freiburg star shows great fair play.
In the 2-0 win in Freiburg, Eintracht celebrated only their third win of the season and jumped from 15th to 11th place in the table. For Frankfurt it is the first win against coach Christian Streich (56), previously it was three defeats and four draws.
The formula for victory: a bit of a fuss at the front and an outstanding support in the goal at the back.
34. Minute: Jakić loses the ball in the penalty area, but Kübler unluckily spits the ball in a duel in the run of Lindström, who slides free in front of Flekken at the bottom right to make Frankfurt 1-0.
In the 10th Bundesliga game, Lindström (came from Bröndby IF in the summer) is the first Bundesliga goal with his 10th shot on goal.
Even before the break, Frankfurt then added: Kostić crossed a free kick – more than 35 meters away from the goal – with a lot of spin into the penalty area. The ball sails over friend and foe, touches down once and lands over the inside post in the net (43rd). Flekken can only look after the ball. A curious goal to make it 2-0.
Before that, Eintracht keeper Trapp kept his box clean several times with great saves. With a header from Grifo (18th) and shots from Höfler (19th) and again Grifo (24th), the native of Saarland remains the winner. Trapp in great shape!
In the second half then the previous fair gesture of the season: Grifo wants to score a penalty with a swallow in the penalty area (55th), but then admits directly to the referee after the missed penalty whistle that he was not touched by Chandler.
Except for a post header from Höfler (51st), however, not much happens in front of the goals. The Eintracht extends the lead on the relegation zone to five points. For Freiburg it is the first defeat in the new stadium.
