Boxing phenomenon Canelo Alvarez wins all 4 belts as super middleweight | Boxing

Alvarez took on American Caleb Plant in the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The stakes in the fight were high, as the winner would become the first ever super middleweight to get their hands on all 4 boxing belts.

Alvarez was a favorite and lived up to that favorite role in Vegas. Plant, who is no less than 14 centimeters taller than Alvarez’s 1.71m, gave up and was released from his suffering by the referee in the eleventh round after a technical knockout.

Thanks to his 57th victory (his 39th before the end of the camp) in 60 camps, Alvarez adds the IBF belt to his palmares. A reigning world champion at the WBA, WBO and WBC titles, he now holds all 4 boxing belts and is the undisputed world champion, extremely rare in the sport of boxing.

Since 1988 and the creation of the four belts, Alvarez is only the sixth boxer to unite all titles. Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (light heavyweights) and Americans Bernard Hopkins (middleweights), Jermain Taylor (middleweights), Terence Crawford (super lightweights) and Josh Taylor (super lightweights) preceded him.
