BASKETBALL – Frédéric Domon: “It was time to put an end to this series of defeats”

L’ASCBB is reassured and is full of confidence after his victory against Chauny.

After the defeat against Roncq, Chauny’s reception was shaping up to be a difficult match for the Amiens given the last respective results of the two teams. Chauny remained on two victories while the Amiénois had just suffered a sixth consecutive defeat. Different dynamics which suggested that visitors would have the advantage. In a noisy room heated by supporters of both teams, the Samarians rose to the challenge.

The Amiens returned very well in the match, thanks to an all-terrain defense on the opposing leader which forces the losses of balls of their adversaries, interceptions which favor the fast play and counter-attacks of the locals, who quickly took control of the match (14-6; 5’18). Unfortunately the intensity put in defense by the men of Frédéric Domon is quickly sanctioned by the referees, which allows the Chaunois to stay in the game. The visitors will even take advantage of two successive losses of balls from Amiens to pick up the score (21-21) at the end of the quarter. The ASCBB, in difficulty, still manages to finish the quarter with 5 points ahead (26-21).

The Axonians come back in the second quarter with more desire and hurt the Amiens. Not active enough on rebounds and perpetrators of several quick faults, they are in the hard but it does not show in the score, visitors putting only 2 points during this high point. The Samarians let the storm pass the better to raise their heads. Indeed the locals accelerate and take a 10 point lead (33-23; 7’13). But, once again, the Amiens quickly found themselves with 5 faults (4’50) allowing Chauny to come back little by little (35-32; 2’53).
It takes a huge amount against Florent Ramseyer followed by a 3 points to wake up Amiénois supporters as well as ASCBB players (2’20). Amiens is better but Chauny has closed the gap, the Axonians managed to come back 3 points from the locals (43-40; 22s). But the Amiens will get a foul on the buzzer shoot, 3 converted free throws which allow the Samarians to lead by 6 points at the break (46-40).

Back from the locker room Amiens is serious. A big job inside Salman Dicko allows Amiénois to score points and get faults (59-45; 6’09). The Amiens have a very good quarter-time, they alternate between interior play, thanks to the work of S. Dicko, and outdoor play, like the new recruit Omar Chedly which comes in a good 3-point shoot ( 65-51 ; 3’59). An external success that allows the locals to keep their lead against Chaunois who do not give up. Amiens leads 71-64 at the end of the third quarter.

The Axonians start the last quarter very well (71-69; 8’40). But Amiens does not want to let go of this match and it shows, Samarians react quickly and fight on all the balloons, like for example S. Dicko who does not hesitate to throw himself on a ball on the ground. A big 3 points of Baptiste Noe confirms‘desire to win Amiénois (81-69; 6’49). The Axonians try to come back but without success, the locals being concentrated and determined not to let this victory slip away. After an end to the match chopped by faults, the Amiens won the match 98-89.

The ASCBB had things to prove

The ASCBB finally puts an end to its series of defeats. A victory that comes at the right time for the Amiénois coach, “ it was time to put an end to this losing streak, if we didn’t win this one we had to worry“. Indeed it was time for the Samarians to return to victory as this match was important from an accounting point of view but also from the point of view of confidence in preparation for the December 4 match against Neuilly.
A match that also had a taste of revenge for the coach and the players, explains to us Frédéric Domon : « I read articles which explained that it was going to be an easy trip for Chauny, apparently coming to play in Amiens is easy and I didn’t really appreciate it ”. In particular, this enabled the players to be even more motivated: ” From there I did not speak about technique and tactics to my players, I spoke to them about pride and honor because we are not respected. »And Saturday night the Amiens have proven that, despite the difficulties, they were quite capable of winning this kind of match. But the coach of the ASCBB is not particularly surprised by the performance of his team: “ Guys are capable of putting out those kinds of benefits, but now you have to do it more often. Today a lot of players have been productive unlike in other games. ” A collective victory therefore, during which the two new players will have been effective, ” Rayan and Cheddly made good starters, they did a lot of good. “

The ASCBB therefore reminds that it is never easy to come and play in Amiens, but it will be necessary to confirm this victory during the trip to Neuilly on December 4.
