ATP> Tsitsipas on his toilet breaks: “It was almost nice to be the bad guy”

After discussing his childhood in a Greece ravaged by the economic crisis and the crushing weight of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas recently returned in an interview for The print on the controversy surrounding his toilet breaks. A controversy that notably erupted during the American tour this summer.

“It was almost nice to be the bad guy. On average, on the circuit, I’m the nice guy who always has to live up to that ideal person and changing my perspective for a while made me smile. I certainly didn’t go to the bathroom to annoy anyone, or to provoke a reaction, or to stress the system, or out of spite. Nothing of that. I never imagined so much noise and outrage, I just went to the bathroom like any other human being. “
