Last showdown in tennis. Traditionally, the ATP finals take place at the end. The eight best tennis players of the year compete for the prestigious title. But a lot has changed this year. We give an overview of the last tournament of the year.

Where and when do the ATP Finals take place?

Since 2009 the tournament has been played in London, in the O2 Arena. The tournament will take place in Turin for the first time in 2021, and the ATP Finals will be held there until at least 2025. The game will be played from November 14th to 21st in the Pala Alpitour, Italy’s largest sports and event hall with up to 16,600 seats.

Why are the ATP Finals taking place in Turin in 2021?

For the first time, the last tournament of the year will take place in the Italian metropolis, which prevailed in a bidding process against more than 40 cities worldwide. Overall, Turin is already the 15th city to host the ATP Finals.

Who are the favorites at the ATP Finals in Turin?

In principle, every player is able to win the tournament – the level of performance at the top of men’s tennis is too close. But Dominator Novak Djokovic will certainly do everything possible to get a conciliatory end to the year after missing the Golden and Grand Slam.

In addition, last year’s winner Daniil Medvedev and 2018 winner Alexander Zverev must also be counted among the hottest title candidates.

How is the mode at the ATP Finals 2021?

The game is played in two groups of four, with the world ranking first and second placed as the respective group heads. Everyone plays against each other once and the two best in each group qualify for the semi-finals and play the two finalists there in cross-duels.

What is the prize money at the ATP Finals 2021?

The appearance at the last tournament of the year is worthwhile for the eight best players of the year. In 2020, for example, $ 5.7 million in prize money was distributed, with each player earning $ 153,000 for participation alone. The same amount was given for every victory in the group stage. A semi-final win was worth $ 402,000 and the tournament winner received a $ 550,000 bonus.

This year there is a record prize money of 14.5 million dollars (approx. 13 million euros), but the exact distribution is still unknown.
