Atlantas, Barranquilla’s new women’s basketball team

At the beginning of the second edition of the Superior Basketball League in Colombia, Barranquilla did not want to be left behind and for this reason Atlantas was born, a quintet that will represent ‘la Arenosa’ in said event, which will start from the next 17 of November and that will run until December 18, when the new champions will be known.

With players from the Caribbean Region and some from other places in the country, this team begins its journey through Colombian professional basketball. In addition, it will have the experience and leadership of the Barranquilla Yanet Arias, one of the most important players on national soil and current captain of the Colombia team.

Ten teams will take part in the tournament: Guerreros de Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Club Valtam, Hormigas InderSantander LBS, Valle Oro Puro, Cimarrones del Chocó, Power Alcaldía de Manizales, Indeportes Antioquia, Universidad de Medellín and Atlantas.

The championship model will not be bubble mode, and games and phases will be played during the weekends. The first phase will have two pentagonal lines in which two teams will be eliminated. Next, the teams will face each other in two reclassification homers and from there the semifinal playoffs will be established.

In this phase of the contest, the four best teams will be defined, which will face each other in a host city and from those clashes the great champion of the Superior Women’s Basketball League will emerge.

The launch of Atlantas will take place this Friday, November 12 at the Elías Chegwin Coliseum, from 10:30 am
