ARCHERY. Archers at the party in Mulhouse

President of the Compagnie des archers du Bollwerk (CAB) since last year, Xavier Jacob wanted, to start his mandate well, to celebrate with great pomp the 45 years of the club created in 1975 during the 25e edition of the 3 Frontiers Tournament.

But as for many demonstrations, the pandemic passed by there and nothing could be done as planned in 2020. It was only partly postponed: 2021 made it possible to put things back in place.

This Sunday’s competition brought together 92 archers from France, Switzerland and Germany. “In recent years, the Germans didn’t come anymore because there was a World Cup event at the same time. But not this year, ”explains the president, delighted with this cross-border participation. However, other neighbors were unable to make the trip due to the capricious weather. The ten shooters from the Vosges clubs who were expected could not cross the snow-covered passes to get to Mulhouse.

They missed something, because this edition of the Tournament of 3 Borders offered a spectacle. “There was a very high level. A Swiss, Florian Faber (Juventas Basel), has twice achieved 296/300. There were also the archers from the Pôle France de Nancy, who raised the level. “

“A lot of people shoot just for fun”

The President was all the more satisfied as there was uncertainty as to the number of participants. “We didn’t really know how it was going to go with the Covid. There are fewer and fewer competitors. A lot of people shoot just for fun. So we are really happy with this edition! “

The fame of the CAB tournament crosses borders and still attracts. “It is an advantage to be able to benefit from this infrastructure of the regional sports center”, recognizes Xavier Jacob. “We were able to set up 35 targets, whereas there are usually 10, 15 targets during tournaments. The 3 Frontiers Tournament still has many editions ahead of it.
