Alina Böhm wins silver in Abu Dhabi

All three German starters placed on the last Grand Slam day. Alina Böhm came on the podium with silver, the two men met in the 100 kilo class in the consolation round.

Alina Böhm from JZ Heubach had already shown what she is made of in Paris. After a good competition there, she finished fifth when she lost to Luise Malzahn. “Paris pushed me. I was already happy with my performance there, but was just past the podium. Now I was happy to be able to compete in a Grand Slam again and hopefully I wanted to win a medal, ”she said about her expectations for Abu Dhabi.

She stuck to this goal throughout the competition. First she scored against the Mongolin Erdenet-Od Batbayar after less than two minutes with a hold technique. Even the Russian Alexandra Babintseva could not escape her on the ground. The Paris winner and former World Cup third party from Russia fell to Waza-ari after just over a minute and Alina Böhm switched to a holding technique again and won with Ippon after a minute and a half. She was in the semifinals of the Grand Slam. Patricija Brolih from Slovenia already won silver in Zagreb in September, but Alina Böhm was not deterred and defied her three Shido in just over seven minutes of fighting time. So she was in the final. It was very close against the British Emma Reid. The Briton already had two penalties, it went into the Golden Score. But after 46 seconds she was countered and fell on Ko-uchi-gari. This gave Alina Böhm the silver medal.

“Sure, if you stand in a Grand Slam final and lose, that’s a big disappointment and you tell yourself that it could have been. But with a bit of a gap, I’m super satisfied. I beat good people today, showed good judo, had a good grip fight, was very variable and not only won with O-Goshi, ”she says with a smile to her trainer.

You also confirm that national coach Claudiu Pusa. “She has shown great judo, aggressive judo and already during training in Kienbaum it has been shown that she is ready for the medal.”

“It is an indescribable feeling, in my second Grand Slam in the 78-kilo class, it worked out with a medal. A dream came true and I got myself the best Christmas present ever, ”she says happily after the award ceremony.

The second medal was in the air for Falk Petersilka from 1. Godesberger JC today. He hit the Uzbek Muzzaffarbek Turoboyev in less than 90 seconds with waza-ari and a subsequent holding technique. In the pool final, however, he lost to Belgian Toma Nikiforov after almost five minutes with Waza-ari.

In the hope round he then met his teammate George Udsilauri, whom he defeated after one and a half minutes with a hold technique. The battle for bronze against the Canadian Shady Elnahas was very even. After 15 seconds in the golden score, however, the Canadian started successfully and Falk Petersilka finished fifth in the Grand Slam.

George Udsilauri from TSV Erbach had won his opening match against Mathias Madsen from Denmark, but had to admit defeat to Russian Arman Adamian in the pool final. After losing the fight in the consolation round against his teammate Falk Petersilka, he finished the Grand Slam in 7th place.

The German athletes return home with gold, silver, a fifth and a seventh place.
