The actor Florin Opritescu, known in Spain for having participated in numerous successful series, such as ‘Sea of plastic’, ‘Unit’ and ‘Serve and protect’, has died at 42 years of age. He had only been acting for twelve, since he started quite late, after studying Economics and when he was already a father. Last year he was diagnosed with leukemia, which he believed to have been cured thanks to a stem cell and bone marrow transplant from his son. The news of his death has been known by the comments on the social networks of his colleagues.
Opritescu was born in Timisoara (Romania), like the movie star and swimming Johnny Weissmüller.
The former also liked to swim, but instead of making the Americas he settled in our country more than twenty years ago, where he was a highly appreciated interpreter, although perhaps too many times due to his ease in embodying villains from the East. He lived in Barcelona with his wife and two children.

Opritescu played numerous sports, including soccer, kick-boxing, badminton, swimming and billiards, and was passionate about cooking. His followers already knew the disease he suffered from his own comments on social networks. He did not hide the seriousness of his situation when he was diagnosed with leukemia, but after the treatment he thought he had overcome it: «I was fighting this disease … and I beat it, how could it be otherwise, “he wrote.
Among its titles, the film of Iñaki Dorronsoro ‘Escape plan’, where the Russian mafias were involved; ‘Sara’s notebook’, a film by Norberto López Amado; and the action comedy ‘Superagente Makey’, from Alfonso Sanchez. Recently, he collaborated on an unreleased and still untitled Italian miniseries about the last days of Jesus Christ, and the film ‘The cold that burns’ is in post-production, by Santi Trullenque, where he worked together with Pedro Casablanc, Greta fernandez and Aida Folch, among others.
