The Peruvian Olympic Committee (COP) defined the list of 160 athletes that will represent Peru in the I Junior Pan American Games Cali – Valle 2021, which will take place from November 25 to December 5, in Colombia.
The most numerous delegation is the athletics delegation after 17 athletes achieved their classification to seek the medals in Cali 2021. It should be noted that the Junior Pan American Games will give direct places to the champions in individual sports for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
“The great challenge was achieved, which was to carry out the vaccination 15 days before the competitions and the participation of the Peruvian delegation in each of its disciplines. This immense challenge within so many difficulties was achieved thanks to the joint work of the Medical Commission led by Alberto Tejada, the administrative staff of the COP and of course our federations that have pushed and have been aware of this great responsibility so we are going to get there to Cali with everything, working perfectly ”, said the president of the COP, Renzo Manyari.
Regarding the expectations of medals in this Peruvian delegation of 160 athletes – according to what was sent by the National Sports Federations – Manyari said that there is a lot of optimism in the performance of national athletes.
“Our chances are very high. We have expectations in different disciplines such as wrestling, weightlifting, skateboarding, so we are going to live up to the historical duty that this kind of competition demands of us. Peru is going to live up to that history and tradition of victories that have led us to this regional and continental position ”.
It is important to note that a total of 3,500 athletes from 41 countries in the Americas will compete in the I Cali-Valle Junior Pan American Games. All participants are under 23 years of age.
The Peruvian delegation will travel to Cali – Valle on Sunday, November 21 to achieve the dream of a Pan American medal.
Peruvian athletes will participate in 28 sports: badminton, bowling, speed boating, BMX Racing cycling, track cycling, diving, fencing, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, karate, weightlifting, wrestling, swimming, artistic swimming, speed skating. , modern pentathlon, rowing, skateboarding, softball, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery, triathlon, sailing, volleyball and beach volleyball.
