A League Of Their Own: Produktion

The idea for the drama series comes from Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson. It is an adaptation of the 1992 film of the same name, starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna. Graham and Jacobson reportedly contacted Penny Marshall, director of the original film, and Geena Davis to seek their blessings before embarking on the project.

Filming is said to have taken place between July and October 2021 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Graham and Jacobson decided to include racism in the league as well as the stories of lesbian players. They hired a researcher to gather detailed information about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and met with players who were still alive.

The series is the second television adaptation of “A League of Their Own” after a short-lived CBS series from 1993. Jamie Babbit directed the pilot episode, which was filmed in Southern California. Babbit, Hailey Wierengo and Elizabeth Koe are executive producers along with writers and producers Graham and Jacobson.
