That’s not all, recently this character managed to position himself among the best four in the world of badminton, at the 2020 Olympics.

A history traced in badminton

Kevin Haroldo Cordón Buezo was born on November 1986 and he is originally from La Unión, Zacapa. From a very young age he played soccer, but he went to 15 years that the renowned Guatemalan knew badminton.

Does 23 years Cordón had the opportunity to participate in his first competition official and since then, his career as a badminton player began to formalize.

He was called for the major selection, allowing it to have its international debut at the Central American and Caribbean Games (JCC), El Salvador 2002. From this moment, the athlete became known outside our borders and of course, placed Guatemala in the eyes of the world.

On 2005 had the opportunity to be part of the High Performance Academy of the International Badminton Federation in Germany and three years later, he debuted in his first Olympic Games.

Later it was world news, by standing out in the Central American and Caribbean Games held in Puerto Rico, where he obtained three gold medals.

It was in the Pan American Games of Guadalajarto 2011, where this historical figure hung another gold that took him to the London 2012 Olympics, where he obtained the first victory for badminton in Guatemala.

Later he won medals in the events of Veracruz 2014 and Toronto 2015, again getting a place for the Rio 2016 Olympics, where he did not obtain good results due to a injury that he suffered in the first game.

After several months away due to the injury, Cordón returned with double gold medal in the Central American Championship held in Costa Rica.
