122 Guatemalans will participate in the 2021 Junior Pan American Games

The Guatemalan Olympic Committee (COG) reported that a new breed of Guatemalan athletes is about to participate in the first Junior Pan American Game 2021, which they will celebrate in Cali and Valle del Cauca, Colombia. The fair will feature the participation of 122 national athletes and will compete from November 25 to December 5.

Last Wednesday, the athletes were flagged before representing the colors blue and white. The swearing in took place in the Teodoro Palacios Flores Gym to a group of athletes between 15 and 23 years old (age range in the tournament) who will be eligible for a direct classification to the XIX Pan American Games Santiago 2023 as an incentive.

Guatemala will be represented in 26 of the 28 sports available, these being: athletics, badminton, 3 × 3 basketball, bowling, boxing, boating, cycling, fencing, gymnastics (artistic and rhythmic), judo, karate, weightlifting, wrestling, swimming , speed skating, modern pentathlon, rowing, squash, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery, sports shooting, triathlon, sailing and volleyball (beach and indoor).

The group of national athletes that will compete and Colombia it has an average age of 18 and is made up of 69 men and 53 women. The COG communicates that these data reflect “gender equity in the development of the processes in the high performance of the national sport.”

In the competition there will be 3 thousand 806 athletes from 41 different countries and they will stay in 30 different hotels.
