▷ Delegation of Guatemala parades at the opening of the Pan American Junior Championship in Cali 2021 –

Guatemala, which will have participation with a delegation made up of 122 athletes (69 men and 53 women), paraded tonight headed by the flag bearer Erick Gordillo and bodyguard Krista Jurado (both swimming athletes), along with the 41 participating countries, for a total of 3,500 athletes present at these jousts.

Prior to the parade of the delegations, the ceremony, which lasted approximately two hours, included topics on Afro-Colombian and indigenous wealth, the urban element, without forgetting salsa as a characteristic element of Colombia.

It is worth mentioning the raising of the flags of Panam Sports and the International Olympic Committee, which featured the leading role of the Minister of Sports of Colombia, Guillermo Herrera Castaño, the President of Panam Sports, Neven Ilic, accompanied by Colombian athletes Luis Javier Mosquera, Yuri Alvear, Óscar Figueroa and Jackeline Renteria.

The closing was in charge of the artist Fanny Lu and the Colombian singer Hendrix Hinestroza, interpreting “Por Nosotros”, the official song of the Games, together with the group Cali Flow. In addition to the salsa touch of 460 young people and adults, as well as 200 children from the salsa schools of Cali.

Guatemala makes its first appearance

This Thursday also marked the start of competitions for Guatemala, with the participation of Jeffrey González in canoeing, on the waters of the Club Náutico del Pacífico, on Lake Calima.

The canoeist played hit 2 of the K1 1000 test, in which he finished fifth with a record of 4: 00.57 minutes, to access the semifinal A. In that phase, González closed in third place with a time of 3:57 : 15 minutes (his personal best). With these results, he will play the final b tomorrow, in the definition of positions.

Tomorrow the Guatemalan delegation will have a busy schedule with presence in badminton, boxing, track cycling, artistic gymnastics, judo, weight lifting, swimming, squash, taekwondo, sports shooting, archery and triathlon.
