At 25, he participated in the Basketball Tournament, in the role of wing, finishing fourth, together with Mario Alesini, Antonio Calebotta, Achille Canna, Giovanni Gavagnin, Augusto Giomo, Gianfranco Lombardi, Gianfranco Pieri, Gianfranco Sardagna, Gabriele Vianello, Paolo Vittori .

Alessandro Riminucci, better known with the diminutive of Sandro, was hyper active between the fifties and sixties. He started his sporting activity at the Pesaro Fencing Club and then moved on to basketball.

Nicknamed the blond angel for his ability to “fly” to the basket and for his exceptional elevation from the ground when shooting in suspension, he is remembered for having scored the record of 77 points in a 1963 game.

He first played with Victoria Libertas Pesaro and from 1957 with Olimpia Milano, with which he won 9 league titles and a Champions Cup. He retired from basketball played in 1970.

He is considered among the greatest players of Italian basketball of all time, for his unmistakable style, his playing intelligence, his shooting precision, his technically perfect “American” fundamentals.

In total, he scored 4427 points in Serie A1. He played 69 times with the national team between 1952 and 1963, scoring 542 points. In 2006 he was included in the ITALIA BASKET HALL OF FAME.
