World Series – Atlanta Braves: Victory with a downer

The Atlanta Braves have won the first game of the North American Major League Baseball (MLB) finals series. The Braves won 6-2 at the Houston Astros on Tuesday, but had to accept a bitter downer that could affect them bitterly in the course of the World Series.

Jorge Soler put Atlanta in the lead with a home run in the first inning. After three innings, the Braves were already 5-0 ahead. But then they had to cope with a loss: Starting pitcher Charlie Morton had to be replaced with a broken fibula and will also be out of the rest of the World Series after being hit by a ball early in the game.

The World Series are played in best-of-seven mode. The second game is already on Thursday night. The Atlanta Braves have won the World Series three times so far, most recently in 1995, and the Houston Astros once in 2017. (apa)
