World Cup silver for Dax-Romswinkel-Loosen – German Judo Association

After an injury last year and the corona-related training deficit, both are happy not to have lost gold, but won silver. So the ping-pong game for the gold medal in the Ju no kata with Japan goes into the next round – hopefully again next year with the better outcome for our German kata couple. The gold medal went to Momoko and Mariko Ishida from Japan.

Miriam Sikora and Christian Steinert missed the finals with 397.5 points in the Katame no kata by 1.5 points. Both showed a dynamic and accentuated kata and impressed in attack and defense. Even if both of them narrowly missed the final and the podium this time, they showed that they have established themselves in the international top.

The second couple in the Ju no kata, Ulrich and Elke Bröckel, could not yet place themselves at their first World Cup participation, but showed that they can be expected in the future.

“Of course I would have liked to have taken part in the finals again today. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with the performance shown, ”says DJB Kata speaker Sebastian Frey. The results of the preliminary and final rounds also show that the performance density in the kata peak has moved closer together. The smallest nuances ultimately decide on the finals and the medal places.

“Now it’s time to switch off for today and concentrate on tomorrow’s competitions of Kodokan Goshin jutsu and Kime no kata, before we go into the detailed analysis,” continues Sebastian Frey.
